Our gateway compared with Twilio

The pricing model

Twilio bills as you go, with no end. The reference rate used in our specification is 0.05 EUR per message sent. At 10,000 messages a month, that comes to roughly 500 EUR a month, in the order of 12,000 EUR over twenty-four months. Our licence is paid once.

Where your data lives

With a broker, messages travel through the vendor's servers. With us, the gateway runs on your own machine and writes to a local database. No message, no contact and no log passes through our servers, because there is technically no path for it to take.

What Twilio does well, and what we keep

• Automatic splitting of long messages.
• Idempotent sending, so a replayed call does not duplicate a message.
• Cursor pagination on API collections.
• Signed webhooks.

All four are in our API from the first version.

What is missing

The API is the only way in: no two-way conversation interface, no auto-responder without development work, no full export of your data. And if the service stops, your sending stops with it.

What you keep with us

A binary you own, your own SIM cards, and a licence that becomes permanently acquired after twelve months: past that point our server may never answer again without your gateway ceasing to work.
